With the beginning of the Reign of Edgar, who was also called The Peaceful, a time of approach to norman England began. Since his father Malcolm III. was a friend of England and his Mother Margaret was English herself, he saw no Problem in it.
He sought good Contacts with the english Kingdom and therefore promoted the settlement of norman Feudatories in the south of Scotland.
The importance of Peace for Edgar shows, among other things, that he renounced the Hebrides and the Kintyre peninsula in favor of Norway.
Twenty years after his accession, Edgar died unmarried and childless.
